Companies that would like to buy equipment that are not located in PIC IT and Automation Equipment List but the equipment are automated, mechanise and are also important to the operation of the business processes may apply to IRAS to have their equipment approved for PIC on a case-by-case basis.

Businesses eligible to apply for the Cash pay-out are Sole-Proprietorship, Partnerships, and Companies (including registered business trusts) that have:
- According to IRAS Guideline, an automation equipment should automate or mechanise the work processes of the business that was previously done manually which became of efficient in work process.
- If the equipment is a basic tool, then it must be more productive than the previous ones. A basic tool is one which is necessary for executing the trade or business, and is widely used in the industry. Examples of basic tools used in the F&B business include microwave and stoves.
- For newly set-up businesses, the automation equipment will be compared with the classic basic equipment used by other businesses in the same industry that are of measurable size to the newly set-up business.
IRAS will evaluate each application based on the requirement illustrated above. Approval depends on the circumstances of the case.
